You see, I had been in a head on car accident in
January (2002). My family and I were headed home from visiting with my folks for
Christmas. The knucklehead in front of us lost control of his truck, and with
one swift kiss of an airbag, I was permanently disabled and no longer to perform
my duties in management with the Trump organization in Atlantic City, New
Jersey.
So here I am 43 years old with a wife and 3 kids
to support. I knew my wife's salary alone would not be able to support us, let
alone pay for three college educations, so I looked into establishing a new
career on the computer.
During the first 6 months of my attempts to
educate myself and break into network marketing, I probably lost over three
thousand dollars making stupid mistakes floundering around not knowing what I
was doing. I was very discouraged and nearly gave up. I felt foolish to my wife
wasting money on a pipe dream at a time when we were broke.
I taught myself how to build a basic websight
through my ISP, which, although a horrible attempt at professionalism, did have
some limited success which gave me hope to stick with it.
I knew now that with the right product, I could
be successful. I asked myself where can I find a void to fill, a market "niche"
to take advantage of?
Then it struck me... What, I asked, wasn't there
for me that caused me to lose money and nearly give up? I knew. A source
of business tools, programs, and advice for the novice who is just breaking in.
There just wasn't anyone to turn to out there. Anyone I would ask questions to
had the standard answer of "I can show you it all...for a nominal
service/consultation fee!"
So I conceived the idea of Golden Rule Business
Tools. A source of free leads, free ads, free programs, and business tools to
allow a person to learn the ropes while they still have their day job. After
all, I said to myself, you don't give a new driver a Porsche to learn on, a
fender bender or two is inevitable during the first year or two of
driving.
Golden Rule Business Tools would give people the
chance to learn from MY growing pains and MY teething so they don't have to feel
the pinch and get discouraged. God, if only this was here for me back
then! I swore I wouldn't let people get taken advantage of ans scammed as
I had in the beginning.
Then in January 2003, I met Rich Levec, a former
lead broker who, after 10 years away from the industry had come back and
established the MLMHOTLINE. The mlmhotline, he told me was a concept he had
developed where he cut deals with several different companies to offer their
services which people were getting seperately, together in one package. Custom
website to build with templates so I didn't have to know html or java so I could
advertise all of my programs from one site, autoresponder, leads, rotator, free
isp, free voice conference room, USA Today ads, 800 voicemail, networking with
others in a similar situation and more. Rich made all of this available for a
very low monthly dues fee.
Then in February, the thing that changed it all
and led to MASSIVE success.
I attended a seminar in Los Angeles hosted by
Mark Joyner. Here he had some of the industries best lecture on how to be
successful. One person was an expert on copywriting, another on listbuilding,
another on building a website, and on and on.
For three days, 13 hours a day, I was the most
diligent notetaking student at the back of the room that you ever saw. Mark
Joyner, Ted Nicholas, Tom Antion, Carl Galetti, Declan Dunn, Joel Christopher,
the list of gurus went on and on.
When I returned from LA, the first thing I did
was DELETE my custom site I had begun to build through the mlmhotline and start
from scratch utilizing all the hints, tips, and techniques I learned. In three
days I built a KILLER website. Then I began to publish the Golden Rule
Newsletter. I subscribed to safelists, used yahoo groups, replied to anyone who
offered me their opp with my newsletter, I found opt in e-mail addresses
wherever I could to share the Golden rule with the world. I purchased some
guaranteed signups and extreme targeted hits. Submitted to all search engines
one by one by hand, and LISTENED to anyone who had advice.
In THREE WEEKS, I grew my list to nearly 3000
people, added more programs to my site staying with the low or no cost format
with a few big ticket things also now making my site friendly to beginners,
intermediate, and seasoned veterans alike. Suddenly my website was averaging
over 800 unique visitors a day and people LIKED my honesty, candor, and unbiased
assesment of programs offered. Business has boomed since.
I now get fan calls from England,
Australia, and all over the world. It is a wonderful feeling to help others so
they can ease into this and not get stung in the beginning as I
did.
It all comes down to the Golden Rule...do unto
others as you would have them do unto you.
I owe my success primarily to two things, the
MLMHOTLINE, and Mark Joyner's seminar.
My advice to anyone getting started is FIRST get
a site, second build a list, third advertise.
Oh, and fourth DON'T QUIT YOUR DAY JOB UNTIL YOU
ARE COMFORTABLE.
